In a brand new interview, Mr. Wittstock, who has always professed to be in favor of his daughter’s choice of a groom, says that the two are bound by love and not some financial agreement that would see him with an heir.
Right before the wedding, word had it that Charlene had tried to flee the country at least on three separate occasions, having learned the man she was supposed to marry had fathered another illegitimate child while officially engaged to her.Admittedly, she eventually agreed to receive payment to stay in the marriage until she gave Albert a child.
All that is a lie, her father is now saying to the local media, as cited by NewsTime. As for reports they spent their honeymoon staying at different hotels, miles apart, that only happened once – and for sound reasons.
“I don’t know where the rumors are coming from. There is a reason for everything that happened,” Mr. Wittstock is quoted as saying.
He then proceeds to explain what happened to make the newlyweds sleep in different hotels while on their honeymoon.
“Charlene stayed at the Oyster Box Hotel (in the Buthelezi suite) and Albert stayed at the Hilton Hotel. This is because Albert attended the conference for the International Olympic Committee, which was held at the Hilton,” the Princess’ father says.
“The conference started at 07:00 in the morning and Albert did not want to get up unnecessarily early and to sit in traffic,” he adds.
Unfortunately, his statement is not convincing anyone: skeptics still believe the marriage is merely one of convenience and that Charlene will be “free” to divorce Albert once she presents him with an heir.
