July 16th, 2011, 11:01 GMT| By Ionut IlascuWe know that for most users Task Manager is enough for process management, but if you care to witness the abilities of a professional tool, Process Lasso is here to demonstrate. We have 50 licenses to give away this week and all you have to do is post a smart comment in the section below this article. As usual, we expect pertinent notes comparing the pros and cons of the application or personal experiences with Process Lasso. You have about a week to share your views with us, so there is plenty of time to take the product for a spin and weigh the benefits and flaws in a compelling argument.
Besides the paid, professional version we’re giving away this week, there is also a free of charge build of the software. The differences between the two versions are quite steep, since the free one is limited with regards to the set of rules you can impose to running processes.
The full-featured edition brings in support for power schemes, possibility to set a maximum threshold for a process’ CPU and RAM usage or automatic restart of a program so that it is always running. In contrast, the free edition can boast only ProBalance technology, setting up default priorities and CPU affinities or foreground boosting.
Process Lasso is designed to keep your system running smoothly and balance the distribution of system resources so that programs running in the background do not impede the smooth sailing of the active once, in the foreground.
For a deeper look at the features, process management abilities of Process Lasso PRO and the results of our tests you can head to our review page.
Your chances to win one of the 10 free codes are only as good as your comment. So make your remarks as honest and witty as possible.
You have a week to post your message, until Friday, so that you can also test the program and form a pertinent opinion of it. Don't forget that we need a valid contact email address.
For a full list of the software featured in our giveaway campaign you can check this article on a weekly basis, keep an eye on the weekly giveaway tag or receive the info by following the Softpedia Giveaway Twitter account.
Note: The winners will be picked from the comments section of this article, and will be contacted in 5 days after the giveaway expires. They will have to provide their full name in private (when required) in order to collect their prize. No other information except for your comment and the alias / nickname you provide will appear online.
We urge you to not double post and, most importantly, be original because pasting from different sources on the Internet will get you kicked from the giveaway campaign.

Process Lasso was created to replace the dull task manager in Windows. It aims to increase your computers response time and keep it stable during high usage. With its ProBalance technology, you do not have to worry about certain applications hogging too much of your systems resources as it will adjust the priorities of running applications automatically. I like this program.
Regards!

I'm currently using a laptop that slows down all the time when I do some serious multitasking on it. I've installed the free version of the program and tested it for a few hours. The computer seems a little snappier when I'm running various programs, but I would like to see what the full version would be capable of in time. Please count me in for a license, if not, I will still continue to use the free version. Thank you Softpedia.

I'm Windows Vista user,
which uses many system resources and
sometimes it could be frustrating.
So, an effective process manager is really needed.
I tried GOTD version of Process Lasso
on both 32 and 64bit of Windows Vista,
it makes both of the system more responsive and stable.
However, it strangely increase my system boot time.
I lost the GOTD version of Process Lasso on the 32bit system,
because I tried to reinstall it and ops! the activation key no longer working.
Hopefully I will get another chance to get Process Lasso Pro. Thanks.

Process Lasso pro is a helpful software program especially for users who experience system slowdowns regulary due to process that are maxing out the CPU or computer memory. Experienced users can tweak lots and lots of settings that are offered in Process Lasso. Those are not needed for the core functionality on the other hand. I ' ve been using Process Lasso of and on for about 2 years now and strongly recommended it, particularly if your PC is older but certainly not limited to them. Thanks for this giveaway.

Process Lasso is a aweaome application & I like to upgrade to pro version.
Comment #20 by: terieron on 16 Jul 2011, 13:34 GMT
Process Lasso is working on a resource in the background and manages the priority of individual processes used by the system. This allows for correction of the reaction of Windows.
Comment #21 by: mkrzys2 on 16 Jul 2011, 13:52 GMT
Useful software for all pc users
Comment #22 by: Rob.C on 16 Jul 2011, 13:54 GMT
I first discovered this program about a year ago on GOTD. I have it installed on a HPd530 (10 years old) and that computer is the fastest of the two I own. I find process Lasso to be a must have for any computer. With out it my old HP would ave had a stroke a year ago. The customer service is outstanding! If you have Issues the developer is always there to help and answer questions. Excellent job MR.C.
I am using Version 5.0.0.26 and would love to have the update. Please count me in for this giveaway
Comment #23 by: ha14 on 16 Jul 2011, 14:13 GMT
Process Lasso can do much for low end processor and pc thus includes "back on track" process feature by temporarily reducing their priority until the activity of the PC returns to normal.
The software also allows to see whether an application is launched (or not) at Windows startup and automatically creates a log of processes that have consumed too many resources. Process Lasso is set and forget and will do the necessary to make windows experience smoother and better.

AGAIN THE AWESOME GIVEAWAY FROM SOFTPEDIA
IT IS THE BEST PROCESS MANAGER, IT IS BEST IN CORE PROCESS MANAGEMENT AND PRO BALANCE. iT ALSO USE LESS MEMORY RESOURCES. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT IT INTERFACE IS QUITE CONFUSING FIRST TIME.
BUT ITS MAIN PLUS POINT IS IT GIVE THE BEST INFO OF YOU SYSTEM LOAD
LOVE TO HAVE PROCESS LASSO
Comment #25 by: ajd on 16 Jul 2011, 14:31 GMT
Process Lasso is a software that lays between the applications layer and the operating system (Windows). It insures that the applications run with stability by eliminating the applications' states which would rise instability. That makes it far from the ordinary task manager because the task manager solves instability when it happens but process lasso doesn't allow it to happen in the first place
Comment #26 by: and on 16 Jul 2011, 14:35 GMT
I'm using the free version and I'm happy, although with limitations. Full version offers more opportunities, to make the system work more efficiently. Please count me in. Thanks

Count me in. I want to use the ProBalance feature for a more responsive system. Process Lasso is one of its kind, almost unparalleled in its usage. Superb software.
Comment #29 by: mikey on 16 Jul 2011, 15:02 GMT
I am using Process Lasso PRO all by its default setting, because I do not know how to configure it. The interface as well as the options are intimating.
What I like about Process Lasso PRO are :
(1) balance the cpu usage and thus make the pc more responsive - auto regulate program/process priority
(2) easily re-start or terminate the unresponding application by merely double click the process and click on the desired action.
What I did not like are
(1) difficulty to configure. It took times to go through so many set of different configuration.
(2) also, by actively and continuously regulate the cpu usage, can at times causes system instability and clash for one who constantly switch between multiple applications.
Process Lasso PRO is a decent program, but can itself consume additional system resources. It also conflicts with 3rd party tools like TuneUp Utilities and WinOptimizer 8, especially when live tuner is on.

I had used the old version of this Process Lasso & this is working very satisfied & awesome to balance my Windows Performance. I really don't know what kind of technique used by The Developers to make this software just like "Sorcerer of the Background". I really Love this Software!
Please count me in for this great Giveaway!

Process Lasso Pro is the best software which clearly shows your activities on responsiveness, processor use and memory load graphically on real-time basis and also in percentage distribution at right bottom icon.
At the same time, it will also manage to keep your system running smoothly as well as balancing your system resources.
Please count me in this Giveaway and thanks to Softpedia.com for this Great Giveaway Event!

Just a few years ago when running Win98 and 2000Pro on several older computers, Process Lasso (free) worked simply fantastic silently "minding the store" without any interference - care free overall. You do have many choices with the application in both models: Pro & the free Process Lasso. Default settings are usually enough for most folks but advanced users have additional controls. Summing up I do know it was an amazing program then and no doubt even better today. I'd like to give it another good run to check out Process Lasso once again. Many thanks - with regards...Ron

Its a real good program to control and protect your processor over usage, I would love to have this software, thank you very much Softpedia for this great Giveaway
Comment #37 by: Nica Mhail on 16 Jul 2011, 18:18 GMT
Process Lasso automatically adjusts the allocation of CPU cycles in order to prevent system slow downs or lock-ups due to excess CPU usage. The program monitors your system and temporarily lowers the priority of any processes that are consuming too many CPU cycles, thereby preventing it from stalling the system. You can customize the threshold settings and also exclude processes from being restraint. Process Lasso can also prioritize (boost) processes that run in the foreground and automatically terminate applications if they are started (based on a user-defined block list). Other features include manual setting of priorities, real-time resource usage graph and tray icon, editing of default process priorities and more.

I was first introduced to Process Lasso by GOTD and ever since then, I've been using the free version for quite some time now and I appreciate as to how it has increase the stability of the system by automatically handling CPU-hogging apps/services. I also like the fact that it does not require the Performance Counter service to be started; unlike an alternative free app - Process Tamer. As far as I'm concerned, Process Lasso is a must-have on a fresh Windows install. It'd be awesome if I win a license so as I can get to use the other Pro features.

I'm currently using Process Explorer (Procexp.exe) from the Sysinternals guys at Microsoft as my taskmanager, but i'm sure that Process Lasso will be a better tool for what I want to do...
I'm a power user and some items are just not there in process explorer (and taskmanager!) like the automatic restart when a task starts using too much memory... Lasso does this so it's the perfect tool!!
