Summary: On July 10th, the CentOS development team, through Karanbir Singh, proudly announced the immediate availability for download of the CentOS 6.0 operating system. The new CentOS 6.0 is based on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 distribution, and it brings all the features that are present in the RHEL distro, with which is 100% binary compatible.
The CentOS 6.0 Linux distribution was completely rebuilt using a brand-new build system and library checks, in order to confirm RHEL binary compatibility. For this release, the CentOS developers decided not to follow RHEL's user operation prohibition usage of Installation Codes. Therefore, system administrators will have all the "channels" available at time of installation.
