Download Transmission 2.32 for Mac OS X

The people behind the Transmission Project have announced a new release of their popular BitTorrent client for Mac users, Transmission 2.32.

The new Transmission, also available for Linux users, fixes a bunch of errors that are common among all platforms, including Mac.

Version 2.32 fixes an error caused by some "open-file-limit" configuration settings, a problem seeding to some peers, a bug converting torrent file text contents to UTF-8, and other small bugs.

Support for µTP on systems running uClibc has been improved as well.

For Mac users in particular, the developers have improved tabbing behavior.

That’s not all, though. They claim they’ve also made some minor interface tweaks, and included a bunch of fixes to enhance its stability on Macintosh computers.

The only visible UI ‘tweak’ we could spot was bigger gaps between the buttons in the main window.

GTK+ changes include: Fix 2.30 error opening torrents from a web browser; and remove GNOME desktop proxy support.

For those who reap the benefits of the Transmission web client, those who maintain the platform are proud to report the following:

· Fix bug when adding torrents
· Add torrents by info hash in the add dialog
· Sorting by ratio
· Allow drag-and-drop to add links

For those who are not familiar with Transmission, the app is a popular BitTorrent client (a peer-to-peer file-sharing application) licensed under the GNU General Public License, with select code licensed under the liberal MIT License.

Transmission boasts a simple, intuitive interface designed to integrate tightly with Mac OS X.

It looks and feels like a native Mac app. However, it runs natively on five other operating systems and uses as little resources as possible to allow for as many torrents to be added as possible.

PowerPC Macintosh users can only use versions older than Transmission 2.30 Beta 3.

Starting with that release, the BitTorrent app is no longer a Universal Binary.
