Julie Benz Is Engaged

Actress Julie Benz is getting married. Over the weekend, longtime boyfriend Rich Orosco popped the big question and she said yes. This will be Julie’s second trip down the aisle, but a wedding date has not yet been set.

Julie and Orosco have been dating for a long time, so perhaps the proposal shouldn’t have surprised her that much. Yet it did, she says in a statement to People magazine.

Rich popped the question at the home they share in Los Angeles, and made sure he took care of every detail to make the event more special than it would have been if he did nothing at all.

“Orosco, 38, popped the question with a customized Kwiat cushion-cut diamond and platinum engagement ring – complete with a diamond frame and milgrain edge band – on Sunday in the backyard of the home they share in Los Angeles,” People reports.

Asked about the proposal, Julie could only say that “It was absolutely perfect,” from the moment he asked the question to when she saw the nice engagement party he had secretly planned for afterwards.

“Nearly 60 of their closest friends and family – and a Mariachi band! – helped them celebrate their engagement at a Mexican-style surprise party Orosco planned,” People writes.

Clearly, Julie couldn’t have dreamed of a more beautiful proposal.

“The proposal was simple and beautiful – and then I was shocked by the pop-up surprise Mexican fiesta engagement party,” the actress says for the same publication.

“What girl doesn’t want to be serenaded by a Mariachi band surrounded by close friends and family?” she asks.

Julie Benz is coming off a very successful and well received stint on Showtime’s hit series “Dexter,” on which, until season 4, she played Dexter’s love interest and later wife, Rita.

The season 4 finale ended with her violent death, and Dexter’s discovery of her body, in what has been named the bloodiest death ever shown on TV.

Some fans still can’t come to terms that her character was killed off.
