Lenovo IdeaPad S100 Netbook Available for Pre-Order in the US

At the start of this year, Lenovo has introduced a series of new entry-level netbooks, including the IdeaPad S100 model that is now available for pre-order on Amazon US with prices starting at $329.99.

The IdeaPad S100 is one of Lenovo's most basic notebook models and is based on an Intel Atom N455 processor.

Introduced all the way back in the second quarter of 2010, this low power CPU includes only one processing core that is clocked at 1.66GHz, but can run up to two threads per clock cycle as it supports Intel's HyperThreading technology.

In addition, the processor also features an Intel GMA 3150 integrated graphics core, which, in the case of Lenovo's creation, is used to drive a 10-inch display with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels.

In the standard configuration, the Atom processor is seconded by 1GB of DDR3 RAM system memory, a 250GB hard disk drive as well as by Bluetooth and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity.

Other models should by also available after the notebook is officially launched, and these can be configured with up to 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive and a faster dual-core Atom N570 processor.

The rest of the IdeaPad S100 specifications include a 2MP webcam and multi-format card reader, three USB 2.0 ports as well as a battery pack that can provide up to 5 hours of continuous use.

All these are housed inside a chassis that weights under 2.2 pounds. This will be available in a variety of colors, including red, fuchsia, sky blue and black.

As noted a bit earlier, the netbook is already available for pre-order in the US from the Amazon website. Pricing for the Atom N455 version is set at $329.99. Sadly, the shipping date is not mentioned anywhere on the product page. (via Notebook News)
