New Buffalo Portable HDD Coming Next Month

Buffalo has already released a great number of storage solutions, so of course it will want to keep doing so for as long as people keep buying, so the appearance of the HD-PCT1TU2 is not that big a surprise. There isn't really much that can be said about the product line that buffalo has managed to amass, nothing that users don't already mostly know anyway.

Both internal and external storage units are up for sale around the world, some with a higher degree of portability than others.

As far as had disk drives are concerned, the portable ones, or some of them, are grouped into the MiniStation series.

It is this very collection that is getting ready to receive a new member, one dubbed MiniStation HD-PCT1TU2.

Measuring 77 x 14 x 114 mm and weighing 165 grams, it boasts a storage capacity of 1 TB, or will have this capacity once it begins selling.

Turns out that sales should commence sometime next month (July 2011), although initial availability will be restricted to just Japan.

For those that want more specifications, the product features the USB 2.0 interface, here to keep things nice and simple, with a regular data rate and affordable price.

Speaking of the price, users will be able to get a hold of this 1 TB model in exchange for the sum of $169.

Furthermore, as extra assets, Buffalo figured it may as well throw in a glossy white or black finish and software tools that make it possible to not just encrypt data, but also back it up.

The Eco Manager power management software is also bundled with the HD-PCT1TU2 (it detects when the HDD goes idle and automatically lowers the platter speed to save energy).
