MSI Makes Official the First AMD Z-01 Tablet, the WindPad W110

After showcasing it at this year's Computex fair, MSI's WindPad W110 Windows 7 table has been finally made official, thus becoming the first slate design to use AMD's recently released Z-01 accelerated processing unit.

MSI's latest tablet device is built around a 10-inch IPS multi-touch screen that sports a resolution of 1280x800 pixels and also includes SRS wrap around sound for a better multimedia experience.

Even though the IPS panel is definitely a nice addition to the WindPad W110, its most distinctive feature is the AMD Z-01 chip that MSI has installed in this unit.

This is AMD first APU that was designed especially for table use and it includes two x86 processing cores that run at 1GHz, as well as an Radeon HD 6250 graphics core, all inside a 5.9W TDP.

As a result, MSI states that the 2-cell battery pack that is used by the W110 can go up to six hours without a recharge.

In addition to AMD's low-power accelerated processing unit, the WindPad table also includes up to 4GB DDR3 of memory, 802.11 b/g/n wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as an SSD to provide users with 32 or 64 GB of storage space.

A front and a rear 1.3MP webcams are also available as standard and the two snappers can also be used together with a special MSI software to prevent unauthorized access.

Around the edges of the W110 tablet, users will find all sort of ports and connectors, an SD slot, an USB 2.0 port, a mini-HDMI video output, a LAN port and a 3.5mm jack for connecting a headset.

At this time, MSI hasn't provided us with any information regarding the release date of the WindPad W110. Pricing is also unknown at this time.
